Structure and dynamics of Triazole-Linked DNA revealed

In a paper published today we reveal the structure of Triazole-Linked DNA: DNA in which one of the phosphodiester linkages is replaced by a triazole. The conformation of the DNA duplex is perturbed only slightly from natural DNA, and the triazole linkage mimics hydrogen-bonding between the DNA phosphate oxygen and polymerase enzymes, providing a basis for the biocompatibility of Triazole-Linked DNA.
