Two papers have been published in the last three days: Ultrasensitive fluorescence-based methods for nucleic acid detection: towards amplification-free genetic analysis, a review in ChemComm; and Characterization of photophysical and base-mimicking properties of a novel fluorescent adenine analogue in DNA, a paper in Nucleic Acids Research.

Review on ultrasensitive fluorescence-based nucleic acid detection published online in ChemComm

Jan 31st 2011, 21:33

A review entitled Ultrasensitive fluorescence-based methods for nucleic acid detection: towards amplification-free genetic analysis was published online in ChemComm today. The review, written by former group member Rohan Ranasinghe and Tom Brown, summarizes new methods for the detection of nucleic acids, from a chemical perspective.

The paper follows on from an earlier review by Rohan and Tom on a similar topic, Fluorescence based strategies for genetic analysis. This review, published in ChemComm, in 2005, has been cited almost 100 times.

New fluorescent adenine analogue published online in Nucleic Acids Research

Jan 29th 2011, 21:28

The paper Characterization of photophysical and base-mimicking properties of a novel fluorescent adenine analogue in DNA, written in collaboration with Morten Grøtli and Marcus Wilhelmsson in Sweden, was published online today. The paper describes work on a novel fluorescent adenine analogue, synthesized using click chemistry.
