Paper published in Angewandte Chemie

Jan 18th 2013, 08:19

In a paper entitled Non-covalent Single Transcription Factor Encapsulation Inside a DNA Cage has been published in Angewandte Chemie, in collaboration with Prof. Andrew Tuberfield and Prof. Achillefs Kapanidis at the University of Oxford, a cage made from DNA is demonstrated to encapsulate a transcription factor (catabolite activator protein, CAP; see figure) without covalent attachment.

DNA Conjugates and Sensors book published

Oct 29th 2012, 11:29

Prof. Tom Brown and Prof. Keith Fox’s book DNA Conjugates and Sensors is now published. The book describes the preparation and application of these DNA conjugates, which has been used as sensors (aptamers, riboswitches and nanostructures) based on the ability of nucleic acids to adopt specific structures in the presence of ligands, whilst others link reporter groups such as proteins or fluorophores to RNA or DNA for detection, single molecule studies, and increasing the sensitivity of PCR. The book and will interest researchers in areas related to analytical chemistry, chemical biology, medicinal chemistry, molecular pharmacology, and structural and molecular biology. Further details are available from the RSC (www.rsc.org/shop/books/2012/9781849734271.asp).

Self reporting RNA probes

Oct 25th 2012, 14:57

A paper published in collaboration with John Langley and Julie Herniman describes the analysis of RNA probes by electrospray ionization mass spectrometry, without the need for cleavable small-molecule mass tags.
