New improved Cy3 analogues
Cy3B has long been known to be an extremely bright and stable fluorescent dye (with a much higher quantum yield than other cyanine dyes), but has only been available as a post-synthetic label, limiting its use. In a paper published in Nucleic Acids Res., we demonstrate the first synthesis of Cy3B phosphoramidite monomers for solid-phase oligo synthesis.
DNA triplexes in nanotechnology
In a paper published in ACS Nano in collaboration with Prof. Keith Fox, applications of the triplex approach to DNA recognition have been demonstrated in the synthesis of nanostructures.
Paper on quadracyclic adenine published
Quadracyclic adenine (qA) is a new fluorescent base analogue (FBA) that preserves the B-form of DNA and, in contrast to most currently available FBAs, maintains (or increases) duplex stability.
