Structure and dynamics of Triazole-Linked DNA revealed

Nov 30th 2011, 17:08

In a paper published today we reveal the structure of Triazole-Linked DNA: DNA in which one of the phosphodiester linkages is replaced by a triazole. The conformation of the DNA duplex is perturbed only slightly from natural DNA, and the triazole linkage mimics hydrogen-bonding between the DNA phosphate oxygen and polymerase enzymes, providing a basis for the biocompatibility of Triazole-Linked DNA.

Two papers from the Brown group have been published online in the journal Chemistry, a European Journal today: Structure and Dynamics of Triazole-Linked DNA: Biocompatibility Explained, and 2’-Aminoethoxy-2-amino-3-methylpyridine in Triplex-Forming Oligonucleotides: High Affinity, Selectivity and Resistance to Enzymatic Degradation.
