Dr Debashis Dhara

Debashis joined the Brown group in September 2023. He was born and raised in East Medinipur, West Bengal, India. He received a BSc degree in Chemistry (Honours) from the University of Calcutta, Kolkata, India in 2009, and completed his MSc in Chemistry (Organic Chemistry Specialisation) at the same university in 2011. He pursued his Ph.D. research at Bose Institute, Kolkata, India from 2012 to 2017. Afterwards, He worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Galway, Ireland, from 2017 to 2018. Subsequently, he continued his postdoctoral research at the Department of Structural Biology and Chemistry at Institut Pasteur, Paris, from 2018 to 2023. His research interests are focused on Chemistry, with a particular emphasis on carbohydrates, nucleic acids, glycoconjugate vaccines, therapeutic oligonucleotides, and sustainable chemistry. In Oxford he is working on the TransNat project to improve delivery and targeting of therapeutic oligonucleotides.
