Graduate student (2012-2013)
Marikka studied for her undergraduate degree in Pharmaceutical Science at the University of Southern Denmark (2007-2010). During her degree, she worked in Professor Jesper Wengel’s group on the synthesis of a modified Unlocked Nucleic Acid (UNA) building block from adenosine for conjugation by click chemistry. In 2011-2012, Marikka worked in Professor Poul Nielsen’s group at the University of Southern Denmark, on the synthesis of amino derivatives of Pleuromutilin for click conjugation to small nucleoside fragments. She joined the Brown group in 2012 for her master’s degree, where she is working on triazole-linked oligonucleotide analogues as potential therapeutic agents.
