Dr Ayan Dasgupta

Post-doctoral researcher (2024-)

I completed my PhD at IIT Madras, India, with a national scholarship under the supervision of Prof. S. Sankararaman. During my doctoral studies, I had the opportunity to work with Prof. H. Hopf (TU Braunschweig) as an Indigo Exchange Fellow and also completed an internship at BASF Ludwigshafen (Bioscience research). My first postdoctoral position at TU Munich, Germany, focused on the stereoselective synthesis of heterocyclic compounds using Lewis acid and hypervalent iodine catalysis. I then moved to Cardiff University, where I explored the utility of borane-based catalysts in organic synthesis. Currently, I am a PDRA working jointly with Prof. E. Anderson’s research group and Prof. T. Brown, focusing on the modification of the oligonucleotide synthetic cycle.
