Dr Sumeet Mahajan
Sumeet did his masters in Chemistry and then in Biomedical Engineering at the Indian Institutes of Technology. Subsequently he did his PhD in Prof. Phil Bartlett’s group in the School of Chemistry at University of Southampton, graduating in 2008. Thereafter he did a postdoc in the Nanophotonics group at the Cavendish Laboratory, Cambridge. He is currently an EPSRC Research Fellow at the Centre for Physics of Medicine at the University of Cambridge. His research interests are in development of surface-enhanced spectroscopic techniques such as SERS and SEF for biomolecular imaging inside cells, biosensing and healthcare diagnostics. He also combines spectroscopic measurements with electrochemical techniques to develop more sensitive and accurate analytical methods. Based on these he is currently developing methods to track the development of stem cell based therapeutics for Parkinson’s disease.
