Dr Marta Richardson (Gerowska)
Post-doctoral researcher (2011-2013)
Marta studied for her undergraduate degree in chemistry at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan, Poland from 2003-2008. From 2006 till 2008 she worked in the RNA Chemistry Group at the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry (Polish Academy of Sciences) in Poznan, for her master’s degree on chemical synthesis and studies on the effect of LNA-2-thiouridine on the thermal stability of duplexes LNA-2’-OMeRNA/RNA. Marta started her PhD in Tom Brown’s group in 2008, on the synthesis of modified fluorophores and quenchers for improvement in DNA sequencing, genetic analysis, and single molecule fluorescence. She remained in the group as a post-doc after finishing her PhD, and then joined Illumina (Cambridge, UK) in 2013.
