Thanishta Mungur
Thanishta is originally from Mauritius and obtained a Master’s degree from the University of Glasgow. During her studies, Thanishta spent a month in the Christopher Frost group at the University of Bath as a visiting student, conducting research in the medicinal chemistry field. She also spent a year in industry at GlaxoSmithKline where she was synthesising biologically active compounds for the potential treatment of respiratory diseases. For her Master’s project, Thanishta worked on the mitochondrial delivery of atovaquone, with the aim of improving the targeting strategy of the anti-malarial drug under the supervision of Professor Richard Hartley. Her research in the Brown group focusses on live cell imaging using CRISPR-Cas9 systems.
