Dr Pietro Marafini
Pietro obtained his undergraduate degree from Ca’ Foscari University of Venice (2012). During his degree he did an Erasmus internship at the University of Southampton, where he worked on DNA detection and discrimination using surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) and electrochemically driven dsDNA denaturation. He focused on the study of the experimental temperature dependence of the DNA melting potential and on Human Papillomavirus (HPV) DNA targets provided by the Italian company AB Analitica (Padua). This research internship was jointly supervised by Professor P. N. Bartlett (University of Southampton) and Professor P. Ugo (Ca’ Foscari University). Pietro joined the Brown group in October 2012. After completing his PhD in 2017 he joined Illumina (Cambridge, UK).
