Sarah Walsh

Graduate student (2016-)

Sarah received her undergraduate degree in Chemistry from University College Cork, Ireland in 2015 where her organic chemistry research project focused on the novel halogenation of 3(2H)-furanones for applications in areas of medicinal chemistry such as PET imaging. Sarah joined the Brown group in 2016 as an ATDBio industry-academia DPhil student with the Innovative Training Network, ClickGene. This Marie-Curie, Horizon 2020 funded fellowship aims to provide a colloborative network between world-leading chemists and innovative SMEs. Her work focuses on the design and synthesis of fluorgenic probes to target DNA and RNA. This includes her recently published work on TOTFOs, fluorogenic probes capable of forming very stable triplexes with target double stranded DNA at neutral pH. She is also working on fluorescence imaging of CRISPR/Cas9 systems.
